To prepare for a digital marketing job, spend 30 days building proof, not collecting more certificates: week 1 pick your role and fix your basics, week 2 build 3–5 portfolio pieces, week 3 rewrite your resume and LinkedIn around results, and week 4 apply to 10–15 matched entry roles a week while practising task rounds. Use AI to speed things up, but check every line yourself.
You have finished a course or are about to. Now the questions start: “Resume mein kya likhun? Portfolio kaise banaun? LinkedIn pe kya daalun?” Most freshers apply too early with a weak resume, get no replies, and lose confidence. This plan fixes that in 30 days, one day at a time, with what to make, what to write and where to apply.
How to prepare for a digital marketing job: what employers want first
Before the plan, know the target. TeamLease EdTech’s Career Outlook Report for January–June 2026 (1,051 employers) found fresher hiring is driven mainly by internships and real project experience rather than academic credentials alone (Outlook Money). Its July–December outlook adds AI fluency and hands-on project experience as what employers want before a fresher starts (People Matters).
So your 30 days should produce three things: proof (portfolio), a story (resume and LinkedIn), and practice (task rounds).
The 30-day plan at a glance
| Week | Goal | Output by end of week |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 (Days 1–7) | Choose your role and close skill gaps | Target role, list of 20 companies, basics revised, free certifications started |
| Week 2 (Days 8–14) | Build portfolio proof | 3–5 work samples with results, saved in one portfolio link |
| Week 3 (Days 15–21) | Resume and LinkedIn | One-page resume, complete LinkedIn, 2 posts published |
| Week 4 (Days 22–30) | Apply and practise | 30–45 targeted applications, follow-ups, 3 mock task rounds |
Week 1 (Days 1–7): choose your role and fix the basics
- Day 1 — Pick one entry role. SEO executive, social media executive, performance marketing trainee or content and SEO associate. Read our list of digital marketing job roles in 2026 to choose. One role makes your resume sharp.
- Day 2 — Read 15 job posts for that role on LinkedIn and Naukri. Note the skills and tools that repeat. That list is your syllabus for the month.
- Day 3 — Gap check. Mark each skill as strong, okay or weak. Pick the two weakest to fix this week.
- Day 4–5 — Fix the gaps with hands-on practice, not videos only. For example, set up GA4 and Search Console on a free blog, or build a Meta campaign draft.
- Day 6 — Start one free certification relevant to your role, such as a Google Ads or Google Analytics certification on Google Skillshop, or a free Meta Blueprint course (Meta’s proctored certification exams are paid, so they can wait). It shows initiative; it is not the main proof.
- Day 7 — List 20 target companies in Jaipur or remote: agencies, D2C brands, coaching institutes, real estate firms. Follow them on LinkedIn.
Week 2 (Days 8–14): build a digital marketing portfolio
This is the most important week. Each piece should show the task, what you did, and the result or learning.
- Day 8 — Website or SEO audit of a local business: 5 problems found, top 3 fixes, with screenshots.
- Day 9 — Keyword plan for one service, grouped by intent (info, compare, buy, local).
- Day 10–11 — A small live campaign for a relative’s shop, a tutor or your own page. Even a tiny budget with honest results counts. Save setup and result screenshots.
- Day 12 — A 2-week content calendar for an Instagram page with 3 sample posts designed in Canva.
- Day 13 — A one-page report: what you ran, what the numbers say, what you would change next.
- Day 14 — Package it. Put everything in one Google Drive folder or a simple one-page site, with a 2-line summary on each piece.
Portfolio rule: three real pieces with results beat ten pretty designs with no context. If something failed, show it and what you learned — recruiters respect that.
Week 3 (Days 15–21): digital marketing resume for freshers and LinkedIn
Resume template points (one page)
| Section | What to write | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Header | Name, city, phone, email, LinkedIn and portfolio links | Photo, date of birth, full address |
| Summary (2 lines) | Target role + strongest skill + one result | “Hardworking, quick learner” |
| Projects / experience | 3–4 bullets per project with numbers: spend, leads, reach, ranking change | Duties with no outcome |
| Skills and tools | Grouped: SEO, Ads, Analytics, Design, AI tools — only ones you’ve used | Long lists of every tool you’ve heard of |
| Education and certifications | Degree, training, relevant certificates | School marks unless asked |
- Day 15 — Draft the resume using the table. Write each project bullet as action + number + result.
- Day 16 — Use AI to polish, then check. AI can tighten wording, but remove anything that is not true or that you cannot explain in an interview.
- Day 17 — Make one version per role type if you are applying to two kinds of roles.
LinkedIn checklist
- Day 18 — Clear photo, headline like “SEO & Content | Live projects in local SEO | Jaipur”, and your portfolio link in the featured section.
- Day 19 — About section in 4–5 lines: what you do, one result, what role you want.
- Day 20 — Add projects and the internship/training under Experience with the same results as your resume.
- Day 21 — Publish two short posts: one lesson from a campaign, one audit insight. Connect with 30 people from your target companies.
Week 4 (Days 22–30): apply smartly and practise
- Day 22 — Apply to 5 roles from your list with a 4-line note mentioning one idea for their business.
- Day 23–27 — Keep 10–15 targeted applications a week across LinkedIn, Naukri and company websites. Track them in a sheet: company, date, role, follow-up date.
- Day 24 and 27 — Do a timed mock task: a 30-minute audit and three ad copies. Our post on digital marketing interview questions for freshers covers the questions and task rounds in detail.
- Day 28 — Follow up politely on applications older than 5 days.
- Day 29 — Review: which applications got replies? Adjust your resume or role choice.
- Day 30 — Add any new result to your portfolio. Repeat weeks 3–4 until you get offers.
Who this plan is NOT for
- If you have not learned the basics yet, first learn — this plan assumes you know SEO, ads and analytics at a beginner level.
- If you want a job in 30 days guaranteed, no plan can promise that. The plan makes you job-ready; the hiring timeline depends on the market and your interviews.
- If you are an experienced marketer switching companies, you need a case-study portfolio, not this fresher plan.
What changed in 2026
- Proof over paper. Employers ask for projects and internships first (TeamLease EdTech, 2026).
- AI resumes all look the same. Because so many applicants use the same AI tools, many resumes now sound alike. Specific numbers from your own work stand out.
- Analytics skills are noticed. TeamLease EdTech notes employer interest in digital marketing analytics certifications. Show you can read GA4 and Search Console.
- AI search is a talking point. Mentioning Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode — and Google’s note that normal SEO best practice still applies (Google Search Central) — shows you are current.

How Infonic helps
Week 2 is where most students get stuck, because they have no real business to work on. In our Digital Marketing Course in Jaipur (15-day, 45-day and 3-month tracks, offline or online live with recordings), practice is hands-on, so you start building portfolio pieces while you learn. For live business work, or if you already know the basics, the 4, 6 or 8-week digital marketing internship focuses only on live work. The 3-month track and our bigger packages already include an internship, and every course can be taken with or without one, so ask the counsellor which fits your 30 days.
Job assistance includes resume and LinkedIn review, portfolio feedback and mock interviews. Pink City Jobs, our own job portal, gives Infonic candidates priority in its listings. It is placement assistance, not a guarantee. If this plan shows you have bigger gaps, read why freshers don’t get a job after a digital marketing course first.
Frequently asked questions
What should a fresher write in a digital marketing resume?
Write a two-line summary with your target role and one result, then 2–3 projects with numbers: budget, leads, reach, or ranking change. Group tools you have actually used. Add your portfolio and LinkedIn links at the top. Skip generic lines like “quick learner” and keep it to one page.
Portfolio kaise banayein agar koi client nahi hai?
You don’t need a paying client. Audit a local business website, make a keyword plan, run a small campaign for a relative’s shop or your own page, and design a content calendar. Put all of it in one Drive folder or a simple site, with what you did and the result. That is a real portfolio.
Can I use ChatGPT to write my digital marketing resume?
Yes, to improve wording and structure. But check every line: remove anything untrue, vague, or that you cannot explain in an interview. Recruiters see many AI-polished resumes that sound alike, so your specific numbers and projects are what make yours different.
How many jobs should I apply to each week?
Around 10–15 well-matched applications a week works better than 100 random ones. Match the role to your strongest skill, add a short personal note, and follow up after five days. Track everything in a sheet so you can see which applications get replies and adjust.
Are certifications enough to get a digital marketing job?
Rarely on their own. Free Google certifications or Meta Blueprint courses show initiative, but employers shortlist freshers who can show real work. Treat certifications as support for your portfolio, not a replacement for it.
Kya 30 din ki preparation se job pakki mil jayegi?
No plan can promise a job in 30 days. What 30 days can do is make you job-ready: a clear target role, three to five portfolio pieces, a sharp resume and real practice. After that, replies depend on the market, your city and your interviews. Keep repeating weeks 3 and 4, and keep adding new results.
